Emergency Disaster Relief
The chapters of the American Red Cross Mid-Florida Region provide disaster response services to 13 counties 7 days a week, 24 hours a day. While hurricanes and floods usually grab the headlines, home fires are the number one disaster all of the chapters respond to every year. When a fire or other disaster occurs, the Red Cross staff and volunteers are on the scene immediately, providing families and individuals with emergency social services, warm meals, a place to sleep, clothing, and oftentimes comfort. Red Cross disaster relief focuses on meeting people's immediate emergency needs, enabling those affected to get back on their feet.
Your American Red Cross Mid-Florida Region:
- responded to 719 local disasters
- gave direct assistance (food, clothing and shelter) to 2,714 people
The Red Cross also feeds emergency workers, handles inquiries from concerned family members outside the disaster area and helps those affected by disaster to access other available resources.
All disaster assistance is free and available 24 hours each day; an outright gift from the generous people of the Mid-Florida area.
